Ganjifa playing cards were first introduced In India by the Persians and became popular during the Mughal reign.  

Ganjifas are based on the concept of ‘dashavatara’ - the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu. The incarnations are: Matsya, Kurma, Varaha, Narasimhs, Wamana, Parshurama, Rama, Krishna, Balarama and Kalki. The forms of Ganjifa playing cards are Bazzar Ganjifa, Darbar Gnjifa and Navagraha Ganjifa.
